Eddie Tapp

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

EDDIE TAPP, M.Photog., MEI, CR., API, is a gifted photographer and artist and has become a tireless educator for professional photographers and a prominent figure in the world of digital imaging. His digital imaging seminars have been hosted around the world, and he’s a regular consultant to businesses large and small. Today, he’s recognized as one of the top experts in the world on digital photography and Photoshop. With a reputation as an authority on workflow, color management, and Photoshop, he is associated with some of the world’s most prominent photographic manufacturers and distributors.

“The greatest honor in my educational career was being inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame in 2006. The greatest honor in my photographic career was being invited to be an Explorer of Light with Canon USA. And I am proud and blessed with the highest awards from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) which include the Gerhard Bakker Award, National Award and Directors Award and others where I am honored with the distinction of Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Master of Electronic Imaging, Approved Photographic Instructor and Certified Professional Photographer.”

Lately, he’s been very active in educating and consulting studios, agencies, and corporations all over the world, and his list of professional clients is quite impressive: Eastman Kodak, Apple Computer, Dynacolor Graphics, and American Color Lab, among many others. Add to that the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy, other government agencies, and a long, long list of photographic studios. Eddie has been an invited guest to various summits and a pioneer in beta testing equipment and software for the professional digital photographic industry.”

No matter who he works for, though, Eddie’s chief aim is to help fellow photographers move gracefully into the digital age, and he’s put together several workshops and seminars for those who want to create beautiful photos entirely with digital equipment.

Eddie offers one- to five-day workshops, on-site staff training, one-on-one training, and an “ETime Remote” on-line training program, along with seminars in cities throughout the world.

   
 

SPECIAL EVENTS SPEAKERS

David Foster is a nature photographer best known for images that convey the essence of his favorite subjects – water and botanicals. He has a special interest in the emerging focus on the healing power of nature and nature-based art/photography.

He exhibits his artwork widely, having been part of over 70 regional, national and international exhibitions – solo, group and juried – in the past 10 years. The international juried exhibit, Gardens in Focus at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, Australia, included David's work three years in a row, 2012-2014.

In 2014, he collaborated with Julie Hliboki to create a book entitled, Breathing Light: Accompanying Loss and Grief with Love and Gratitude. In it, 57 of David’s nature photographs accompany Hliboki’s poems and prose that convey how love, gratitude, and compassion arise over and over again in the midst of suffering.

David received P.C. Turczyn’s Art That Supports the Healing Process Award from among the 50 international artists chosen by Manhattan Arts International for its 2014 exhibit, Celebrate the Healing Power of Art.

His exhibitions, writings and teaching are part of David’s growing interest in and commitment to the healing power of nature-based art and its role in enhancing an array of healing experiences. He currently lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

 WORKSHOP SPEAKERS

 Shannon SHANNON ATKINSON is a Louisiana-based photographer who focuses primarily on concert and street photography. He has shot live promotional images for artists including Plain White T's, Percy Sledge, Louis Prima Jr., and Marco Palos in addition to other international acts. His work has been published in regional magazines and websites as well as at Yahoo Sports. Although he continues to develop a diverse catalog, his true passion is street photography. "I have always gravitated to environmental portraiture. It is not uncommon for me to shoot other genres, but the streets are where I feel most at home with a camera in my hands." Shannon has photographed throughout the United States as well as in Central America. He recently traveled to Tegucigalpa, San Lorenzo, and Amapala Honduras to document SEE International's Honduras Eye Surgery Brigade. Shannon is currently working on a photographic series documenting the decline of Louisiana's indigenous population and loss of culture that will ultimately be published in book form.

  CHRIS BANKS has been a classroom trainer for approximately 30 years, teaching computer courses such as MS Word, Excel and Access, and Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. His passion for the past 10 years has been photography, videography, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. Before retiring, for several years, he was a trainer for MicroCenter in Marietta, Ga. For the past 2 years he has been the organizer for a Meetup group called Photographic Society of the CSRA. The meetup group has 430 members, with a regular attendance of 25 to 40 members at each meeting. The group meets at the Columbia County Commissioners Auditorium.  C Bayer1 JPEG  CASSIE BAYER has always enjoyed taking pictures of places, flowers, animals, and landscapes. In addition to taking pictures locally, she has been lucky to have been able to travel to amazing places like Alaska, Rocky Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, Adirondacks, Carolina Coast, Canadian Rockies, and Smoky Mountains. She has shown her photographs in various venues in the North Augusta area including the Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta and Chamber of Commerce. She is always taking actions to improve her photography by taking classes and seminars from photographers such as Joel Grimes, Maria Bernal, Kate Silvia, Chaz Glatzer, and Denise Ippolito. Cassie earned her photography certification from Augusta University Continuing Education Program in January 2015. She is member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Carolina Nature Photographers Association (CNPA).
   
Ed B ED BELINSKI, M.Ed., Cr. Photog., ABI, PPA Certified, GSD, began taking photographs in middle school, continuing through high school and using his skill to pay for college and graduate school. He has photographed studio portraits, professional sports, commercial and aerial assignments but always returns to his love of portrait and nature photography. He currently specializes in environmental portraiture, taking photographs of people and families in an environment where they feel comfortable. As a Photographic Craftsman degree holder (Cr. Photog.) and an Approved Business Instructor (ABI) with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), he presents workshops around the country to professional photographers in the area of business and marketing. Ed spends his time in Augusta teaching digital photography and Photoshop classes at Augusta University, The Morris Museum of Art, the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, and the MACK in McCormick. He is currently the Lead Instructor and program developer of the Photography Certificate Program at Augusta University. Ed is a founding member of the Augusta Photography Festival, a biennual celebration of the photographic arts in Augusta that attracts national speakers and photographic competition entries worldwide. His latest endeavor is working with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project videotaping interviews with World War II veterans.
   
Dale DALE BOUDREAUX has been shooting photographs for close to 25 years, most of which was spent as a professional wedding, portrait, and fashion photographer, along with shooting junior college and D1 sports and events. He made the move to street photography two years ago, largely due to the influence of fellow photographers and the growing movement of street photography. He has photographed life on the street in New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Las Vegas.
   
BradBudd BRAD BUDD took an interest in photography at an early age and was the youngest student to be on his high school yearbook and newspaper staff as a photographer. Serving his country in the military for nearly 10 years after high school, Brad kept an ongoing interest in photography while on active duty. Upon exiting the armed services, he utilized his GI Bill to earn an AAS in Graphic Design from Augusta Technical College and an AAS in Photography from North Georgia Technical College. In 2015, he placed second in the nation at the SkillsUSA college post-secondary photography competition. Through hard work and networking, he was given the chance to photograph Panoz’s Esperante GTR-1 which debuted at the Dubai auto show where his photos of the car were internationally published across numerous countries.

Diana DIANA BUNCH loved animals growing up. She has worked in animal hospitals, trained and worked K9 search and rescue dogs, fostered military working dogs and volunteered in several animal shelters. Diana began her photography hobby while in Colorado which led to a part-time business. After Diana retired from the U.S. Air Force, she decided to combine her love of animals and photography by pursuing her pet photography business. Diana currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Humane Society and as the Membership Coordinator for HeARTs Speak. She also provides her photography services to various animal shelters and rescues to help homeless animals find their forever home. She currently operates Pet Pawtography in Montgomery, AL.

  KATIE JIMINEZ has been studying Photoshop since 2000. She has studied with some of the industry's finest instructors, including Julianne Kost, Dave Cross, and Eddie Tapp. Currently she is the retouch and restoration artist for Kevin Jiminez Photography and teaches around the southeast. She earned her Photographic Craftsman Degree with the Professional Photographers of America in 2015 and earned the Photographer of the Year with the PPA in 2016. Kevin J KEVIN JIMINEZ has been working as a photographer for over twenty years. Although Kevin has received many awards in the portrait and illustrative areas, his primary specialty is photographing weddings. In addition to 20-plus years of experience, Kevin has received the Master of Photography degree (M. Photog.) and the Photographic Craftsman Degree (Cr. Photog.), two Photographer of the Year awards from the Professional Photographers of America, and the Service (GSD) and Fellowship Degrees (GFD) and two Photographer of the Year awards from the Georgia Professional Photographers Association. Kevin has also been awarded multiple Kodak Gallery Awards, Fuji Masterpiece Awards, and a Polaroid Image Award in Professional Print Competitions. KTJ KEITH T. JONES has been looking to document the world around him since picking up his first camera at eight years old. Starting with newspaper, magazine, and documentary photography, he then expanded into landscape and nature photography. A winner of awards at national, state and local levels, he has also been teaching and leading field trips for over a decade. Keith is a former manager for Wolf Camera and now works for the Boy Scouts of America.
   
  AMY LITTLE is an extreme hobby photographer. She likes all kinds of photography and loves the challenge of trying new subjects. She loves chasing sunrises, sunsets, stars and waterfalls. Amy discovered photography in 2009 with the purchase of my first DSLR. Since then she has attended adventure workshops with the Mountain to Sea group, joined local photography clubs and made countless photography friends. Jumping in the car at 10 p.m. to drive 3 hours to photograph the Milky Way on the coast is just one of the adventures photography has taken her on. She can’t wait to see what the future holds behind her lens. In 2014, Amy was a finalist and winner in the Phinizy Swamp Photo contest.
   
Ed McCranie APF 2016 instructor portrait 01B7659 960 pixels ED MCCRANIE retired from the MCG faculty in 2000 and has been devoting more time to his longtime interest in photography ever since. Shifting from film to digital in 2004, Ed enjoys shooting a variety of subjects (landscapes, architecture, events, and portraits), and then using Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop to enhance and prepare the images for both screen and print display. More recently, he has become intrigued with learning how to capture and create HDR (high dynamic range) photographs of landscapes and architecture.
   
  LINDA MCFARLAND has combined her love of photography with her love of animals into a career that includes work published in magazines, books, calendars, greeting cards, and even a photo shoot for Purina Pet Foods. Her goal is to always capture the animal's personality in an artistic format.
   
  CHARLIE O’NEAL has been a wildlife and scenic photographer since he was a young child and his parents used to take him to Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He has developed a growing love for the outdoors and photography ever since. He cherishes the time he gets to spend outside photographing the wonders of nature and thanks the good Lord, his wife and family for their support in doing so. He has been fortunate to be able to travel across the country and meet some wonderful people like Dan Zingler of Canyon Photography in Idaho who showed him some beautiful country out west. Photography allows you to capture, remember and share wonderful moments in time.
   
Rebecca REBECCA ROGERS serves as President of the Augusta Photography Festival, Inc. Since discovering the pleasures of digital photography in 2003, she rarely leaves home without her camera. She has developed her skills in photography through her work as the Director of Marketing for the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area. Rebecca’s work has been published in a number of travel and tourism publications, Augusta Magazine, the Washington Post and National Park Service calendars, brochures and websites.
   
Laura LAURA RUSSO has recently relocated to the CSRA after an 11-year career in the sky, documenting development across the Southeast (based in Tampa and Atlanta). Her services include monthly aerial construction progress photos for contractors and developers as well as marketing packages for commercial real estate companies. Many clients request interior/exterior architectural images after the project is complete to document from the ground up.Her online portfolio is available at studiorussophotography.com. Laura has been actively participating in the local art communities throughout her journeys. She pursues her own personal art projects in addition to her commercial assignments. Laura currently lives in Jackson SC and works for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Media and Communications Team.
   
Dwain DWAIN SHAW is a retired Army Officer and Director of Information Technology at the Augusta University Medical Center (formerly Medical College of Georgia). Dwain regenerated his interest in photography with the advent of digital photography, as his undergraduate degree in Art from the University of Georgia and a Master’s Degree in Technology from Georgia Southern University gave the right and left sides of his brain the perfect marriage to hone his talents and skills in the art. In addition, his role as the national spokesperson for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), speaking to the effects of Y2K in healthcare, gave him considerable skills in public speaking and instruction, leading to his role in teaching digital photography for the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art and Continuing Education at Augusta University. He also led numerous photography workshops with his friend, Dr. Tom Gallien, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Dwain is also past president of the Columbia County Artist’s Guild and Columbia County Arts Council. He has participated and won many awards for his photography, to include a first prize in a national photo competition, as well as local and regional competitions. His work has been published in several national magazines, most notably, Outdoor Photography. Dwain resides with his wife in Evans GA.
   
Kate S KATE SILVIA is a professional landscape photographer and educator based in Charleston, South Carolina. She was trained at the nation’s oldest photography school, the New York Institute of Photography. Her intense passion for the natural world is matched only by the desire to share that passion with her students. Her images and articles can be seen in numerous publications including Landscape Photographer, Nature Photographers Network, Aquarium Fish, Nature Photographer, Camera In The Wild, Our State, and NANPA’s Expressions. She maintains an educational blog with tips for aspiring photographers as well as a YouTube Channel with photo editing tutorials, specializing in Photoshop, NIK, and Topaz software. She is the author of the E-Book, "Composition for The Landscape Photographer" and continues to create self-paced video workshops which are available on her web site. “Color Efex Pro4, A Complete Guide” and “A Complete guide to Viveza2" are available now.
   
Ron RON STARCHER has been an avid photographer since 1984 when he bought his first Pentax K1000 35mm film camera when he joined the US Air Force after college. He switched over to Canon 35mm film cameras in the 1990s and went digital with Canon in 2004. In 2012, Ron had an epiphany and converted completely over to Nikon digital cameras and lenses. He currently shoots with Nikon D800 and D7100 cameras. With his education and background in computers, Ron is very adept at post processing photos using a multitude of software packages, including Photoshop and Lightroom. He has used Photoshop since 2004 and is currently using Photoshop/Lightroom CC version. Ron considers himself to be a semi-pro photographer, shooting weddings and portraits upon request and selling a few photos. He has entered and won many photo contests including the Augusta Photo Festival in 2012. Recently, a Columbia County Magazine editor interviewed Ron about his photography and created a six-page article (including many great shots from Ron’s portfolio) which appeared in the March 2014 issue. Ron has been a Systems Analyst (manages laboratory computer systems) for Solvay since 1992 and lives with his wife and children in Evans GA.
   
  TANYA STRICKLAND is the Environmental Coordinator for the City of North Augusta’s Stormwater Management Department and has been with the city for nine years. She manages the environmental programs at the city including Brick Pond Park. Previously she worked for SC Department of Health and Environmental Control as the manager of the Wastewater/Stormwater/Agricultural Section performing regulatory oversight of public and private facilities water discharge systems. She has worked with the University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory and the University of South Carolina conducting research concerning heavy metals, water quality, wetlands and endangered plants and animals. Prior to her work in public service, she worked in the private sector for four years conducting assessments of polluted sites located at the Savannah River Site and also worked developing new remediation technologies. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina – Aiken with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Her passion is protecting water quality and helping to educate students and adults on how they can participate in the effort. Tanya is a member of Sigma Xi and is current president of the SC Association of Stormwater Managers and is on the board of the Savannah River Basin Advisory Council. She grew up in North Augusta SC.
   
Casey CASEY SZOCINSKI has been “chasing light” since his first camera, shooting helicopters taking off and landing on the USS Sanctuary off the coast of Vietnam. Like many, he then shifted to shooting family and friends with Pentax gear he inherited from his uncle, who was the family “photo bug.” Taking a friend up on an offer to shoot a wedding, he made a part-time job out of his passion. As he continued to grow as a photographer, he developed a unique view of nature and landscape photography that has taken him all over the United States, including a 3-month expedition that went “from one national park to the next.” Casey has been published in South Carolina Wildlife magazine as well as Camera in the Wild, the Carolinas' Nature Photographers annual magazine. He has received over 20 first place awards and numerous other awards in contests around the south and has had shows in South Carolina and Georgia. He makes his home in North Augusta SC with his wife Cleavie, where he is still “chasing the light.”
   
Will

WILL TULLIS has operated Tullis Photography in Augusta GA since 1969 after receiving his degree in photography from North Georgia Tech in Clarksville GA. His work experience, in addition to his own business, includes working with two of the largest studios in the Augusta area. While working with the Frank Christian Studio, he was one of the staff photographers, recording events such as the Masters Golf Tournament for several years. His work from this period appeared in many publications about the Masters. Will was a staff medical photographer at the VA Medical Center in Augusta from 1978 through 2009 and during this time has also operated his own business, Tullis Photography, specializing in the photography of models, beauty queens, and actors. His headshots are widely renowned to be some of the best in the south due to his proficiency with lighting and advanced photographic techniques for this clientele. Will is co-founder of the Destin Beach Photographic Workshop in Florida, an annual event since 1986, teaching advanced classes on glamour and beauty photography in the seashore and casual settings. Will continues his photography education by attending seminars and classes throughout the country on glamour photography and digital imaging, lighting, posing and computer enhancement. He has kept up with the latest in computer image processing with the newest digital imaging products on the market.
